[He sprang to his feet, almost guiltily. He's been there for a while, though it's difficult to say how long. Watches and NVs and things like that seemed pretty unimportant when he woke up this morning. He didn't even bother to put on socks.]
[He stands there awkwardly for a moment, silent for once. What is he even doing there? What is there to say? Lisbeth didn't know Shika. But then, maybe that's part of why he's here. He tries to raise his hand in a wave, but it comes out more like a twitch. ]
[He takes a few tentative steps closer, and rubs the back of his neck. It's a little sore from staring at the clouds all afternoon.]
I just...I-
[He swallows, and looks away. Words are tough sometimes. So, instead he inches closer again, until he's hovering right beside her, sort of radiating sadness and anxiety and uncertainty.]
[Coffee? He blinks, a little confused, but then he nods. No, he doesn't want coffee. But it's an excuse to sit beside her for a while and not be alone. He can't quite work up a verbal response, but hopefully the nod is enough.]
[When he nods, Lisbeth opens the door a little wider and steps back inside. Once he's inside, she closes and locks the door, a habit she just can't seem to break still. She begins walking briskly to the kitchen.]
[Yosuke follows at a slower pace, rather than his usual quick and eager movements. He's almost dreamy, with his gaze turned down now that there's nothing to look up at. Just a half beat out of tune with his surroundings at the moment.]
[He trips over something or another, but he doesn't bother to look at what it is, or even voice a complaint. He doesn't make a joke, or try to dust himself off and look cool before anyone notices. He just keeps walking.]
[She hears the commotion behind her and turns around. He's way out of it and she honestly doesn't like it. It's not Yosuke in her house. For a brief moment, she fears that it's some sort of shape-shifter - she knew plenty of people who might have a grudge against her in this town by now.
But she still went over to him and grabbed his arm. She led him the rest of the way into the kitchen.]
[He glances down at Lisbeth's hand on his arm, and then up at her briefly. But he doesn't voice any sort of protest, or even casually flirt as he's usually prone to do. He just allows it, and keeps her pace since he's being led. He's always been good at following.]
[She leads him to the kitchen and sits him down at the kitchen table. She clears some of the things she'd left laying around before beginning to brew some coffee.]
[He sits down obediently, but before long he's back on his feet. The slight creak of the chair is the only sound to give him away, and then he's hovering again. Not touching her, just standing a bit too close, clenching his fists and staring into the distance. When she addresses him, he glances at her.]
Huh?
[He wants to argue that he wasn't lying, but quite frankly, while he remembers that the conversation outside occurred he doesn't remember what was said at all. He shivers a little at the realization.]
[He sighs. Is it that obvious? And then he bites his lip to stop it from trembling.]
[And after only a few seconds of hesitation, he closes the distance. Wraps his good arm around her and buries his face in her hair and shivers against her this time instead.]
[Yeah, okay. Maybe something is a little wrong...]
[It doesn't really explain much either, but what is there to say? His best friend is dead, his ...Nill...is miserable, and it's partly his fault. Hell, it's a lot his fault. Words don't really fix things. Neither does the shivering, but he can't make himself stop. His teeth chatter until he clamps them together.]
[But when Lisbeth's arms wrap around him, he's relieved. If she had pushed him away he's not sure what he would have done, but it doesn't matter. She didn't. She's got him. Even if it is really pathetic. The trembling gets worse, but his spine relaxes slightly, and he slouches down a little to better bury his face against her neck.]
[With their height comparisons, Lisbeth buckles slightly under Yosuke's sulking frame, but she keeps a steady hold on him. What was this all about? What could have happened that his mood changed completely? She doesn't say anything for a minute or two before finally speaking.]
[It's a hazy response. He has to blink a few times to come back to himself enough to reply, and when he does, his eyes widen just a bit.]
Oh! I...sorry, I didn't forget. I just...
[Yosuke lets go of Lisbeth, suddenly ashamed. He scrubs at his face roughly, and glances away.]
No. That was-nice. You-I probably shouldn't be here, huh? I just didn't have anywehere else to-
[Except, he really doesn't want to admit to that. But now that he thinks about it, going to Lisbeth-san at Jesse's place after that is really stupid. He groans. He'll have to do something about that later, too.]
[She glances around before answering his question.]
It's stupid, but whatever.
[She gives him a glance over.]
Let's go to my room. Just to lay down.
[She doesn't want him to think she's taking advantage of his obviously shitty mood. Grabbing his hand again, she leads him out of the kitchen and upstairs.]
[He doesn't seem all that interested in whether he's being taken advantage of or not. But her hand feels nice in his. Warm, alive. Reassuring. He follows where she leads.]
[She opens the door to her bedroom and doesn't apologize for the mess. Clothes are all over the floor along with papers and books - a math book is open in the middle of the floor as if she'd been disrupted by the memory of the trash she'd thrown out earlier that led her to finding Yosuke - and soda cans littered her desk.
Lisbeth closes the door before climbing onto her bed. She lays down on her side, staring at him.]

[Did she have to kill someone else?]

You're not acting like yourself. Something is wrong.

I keep forgetting to breathe.

Why?
