[Except Lisbeth had neglected to tell her yet again. It would seem the conversation they'd had about that last time didn't mean a great deal to Lisbeth.
Lisbeth hadn't bothered to tell her the last time Walter White showed up, either. Nill saw his name on the list. Looked at him a few times on the network. That was about as much as she was willing to put into it when it wasn't an immediate problem.
Nill doesn't sigh. She gives no outward indication of these thoughts. Instead, she sets her backpack down, and stuffs her gloves and scarf into the pockets of her jacket. It gets hung up, before she picks up the backpack again.
She should expect these things from Lisbeth by now, she supposes.]
[To tell or not to tell - what the fuck was wrong with Lisbeth? She has people pulling her in every direction about this situation and they shouldn't be. Arya was right - when the fuck did she start doing what people told her to do? Even though Nill wasn't Jesse's greatest fan, Lisbeth realizes she has the right to know. If she wants to grieve with other people instead of keeping it all inside, those two can go fuck themselves. It was hard enough keeping it a secret from Anne until Saul told her and it's difficult to look Ellie in the eyes whenever she sees her, even if she was fourteen.]
I promised Saul and Steph I wouldn't tell anyone but fuck it, they already announced it on the network: Jesse's gone from Exsilium. But what they won't tell you is--
[Lisbeth pauses. She's still for a moment as if she's spacing out. Soon, though, her eyes drift up to the ceiling as she sighs shakily. She can even get the words out of her mouth.
[She remembers seeing the post, a little. But she hadn't contacted Lisbeth, because Lisbeth hadn't contacted her, and then...
She assumed he came back. Of all the names Nill checked on the list, his wasn't one of them. Not that she didn't care - she still did, in a way. It just hadn't occurred to her that he wouldn't come back this time. He'd left for a catch up with his own world before, hadn't he?
[She moves away from the door to finally start building their fire. Lisbeth throws the logs into the fireplace.]
I'm fucking miserable and they just drop it at the end of a video post talking about the fucking cookies of all fucking things.
[It's been a scene she's played in her head thousands of times. Sure, they can feel sad too, but they still had each other and woke up to each other's faces every God damn morning--
Lisbeth strikes a match so angrily that she breaks it in half. She shouts her curse in Swedish.]
[She wonders if Saul and Steph are the only people that Lisbeth is really angry with. Probably not - but she won't ask, because it's not what she needs right now. Nill makes sure the door is closed securely behind her, and then makes her way into the barn-turned-home.
She steps over to the fireplace, her bag set aside elsewhere, before she kneels down beside Lisbeth. She gently takes the box of cigarettes from her, and sets about lighting a match herself.]
It's not fair.
[Lisbeth knows that too, of course - but sometimes it helps to hear it. To be aware of the fact that someone other than yourself knows it's shit, even if it had the best of intentions (as far as Saul goes).]
[Lisbeth rests on her heels when Nill takes the matchbox. It's as if Nill's reassurance of what Lisbeth is feeling satiates her. It allows her to see how selfish she's being by turning the visit onto her problems.]
But you came here to get your ears pierced and it feels like whenever you visit, I'm already going through some shit. Do you want some coffee?
[Nill's not brilliant at fires - she never needed to be. But she tosses the lit match onto what kindling Lisbeth had, and figures that's probably enough.]
If you have some to spare-- that would be nice.
[Mostly, she just tries to seem quiet and gentle. To counter-balance all Lisbeth's pent-up anger. She doesn't mind if Lisbeth needs to use this visit for herself.]
[Lisbeth gets up from the floor to fetch the kettle. Living conditions were terrible. Well, terrible for someone so used to the conveniences of modern society. Food had to be cooked over the fire and that meant coffee and tea had to be prepared the same way. She grabs the container of instant coffee from the cupboard.]
It's that instant shit, but it's coffee nonetheless.
[She walks back over to the fire as it starts to warm up, placing the kettle on a hook above the fire. As Lisbeth sits down, she remembers something.]
[Nill gives the place another brief look-over while Lisbeth's getting the kettle. She didn't mind instant, so when Lisbeth says as much she just bobs her head.
At the mention of Lily, however, a soft little smile spreads across her face.]
A sweater that lights up. It's very cute.
[No Nill you have terrible taste... She gets up though, so she can go to grab her bag. She comes back over quickly, and sits down again near the fire, unzipping the bag and pulling out a box, which she hands to Lisbeth.
It's not wrapped, because that was one thing she'd neglected to actually get. But it's the biggest container of cigarettes you can buy in a store (12+ packs, if not more) of Lisbeth's favorite brand. There was a big shopping trip a few days ago that Nill had joined in on, as much of a waste of resources as it may have been.]
[When Nill gets up from her spot, Lisbeth watches her briefly before turning back to the fire. She uses the poker to stoke the fire. Nill comes back quickly and is handing Lisbeth a box.
She smiles when she sees it's enough cigarettes to get her through at least four months of the new year.]
Thank you. I got something for you too.
[Even though she hadn't been in the holiday spirit, Lisbeth knew that not getting gift would just be heartless. She heads up to her room to grab a brightly wrapped box will Nill's name on it. Lisbeth brings it back down and hands it to her.
What she'll find inside is an embroidery and cross-stitch set with thread and some pre-packed designs.]
[Her smile widens slightly, and she's glad to see that the gift can brighten Lisbeth's disposition, even if only slightly.
She was not, however, expecting anything from Lisbeth. She waits for her patiently by the hearth, and offers a small, if surprised smile when Lisbeth returns. Her wings flutter awkwardly, and she takes the box to set it on her knees and unwrap it carefully.
She's not expecting what she finds inside, but it makes her smile. If it came with directions... she might actually be able to figure out how to do it.]
[She looks a little embarrassed at that, bobbing her head briefly and giving her sweater a tug. It mostly just had... holes in the back for her wings via a knife or pair of scissors. It definitely wasn't nicely done.]
I should probably learn how here-- it would be a lot easier.
Not to mention we can't go hopping onto the Transporter every time our clothes get old. It's best for now.
[The kettle starts whistling - slowly at first, but then it's high-pitched. Grabbing a cloth that looks suspiciously like a really old shirt of hers, Lisbeth takes the kettle off the fire. She pours hot water into two mugs.]
I don't know. Not long ago someone arranged a trip that at least twenty people attended-- they went shopping.
[Nill had gone too, of course, but... it was supplies she was getting. Mostly. Things to keep people warm, some alcohol and some cigarettes. The stuff they'd all been missing horribly on the moon. She smiles faintly though, unaware up until now Lisbeth's skills extended to actually making something to drink. She'd kind of figured all cooking beyond instant ramen was beyond her.]
[Lisbeth cautiously puts the kettle back onto the hearth, away from the fire, to cool down. Taking a spoon, she mixes the instant coffee with the water. It looks like coffee, but Lisbeth knows it tastes far from the real stuff. She hands Nill a mug.]
Skål.
[She raises her cup to Nill before taking a sip. Bleugh.]
[Nill takes the mug, holding it between both hands to warm her fingers from the cold outside. She lifts it then, towards Lisbeth, and mimics Lisbeth's "Skål" with a soft one of her own before taking a sip.
Bluh. Okay that's pretty bitter, but it's better than nothing.]
[Lisbeth smiles, appreciating Nill taking another sip, but she's not offended when it looks like she's done with her coffee too.]
Since it's such short notice, I won't be able to do it like they do them at the shop. They usually use this huge needle to poke it through and these clamps to hold down the skin...
[That might've been overshare.]
But you'll just feel a pinch. I found a pin from Anne's needlework that I can use.
To hold whatever they're piercing steady. They used them for all of my piercings. But a pin should do the job. An earring has a thicker point, but it's better than going in with that one first.
[She thinks of the earrings she was given, and how dull the points were... trying to force those through her skin wouldn't be very pleasant. But she reaches into a pocket on her jacket, and pulls out the box they came in, before opening them and showing them to Lisbeth.
It's a lovely set, make to look like twinkling stars.]
[While Nill gets out her earrings, Lisbeth opens the cigarettes she gave her. She clenches one between her teeth and lights it. Lisbeth exhales from the side of her mouth once the earrings are out. She gently takes the box from Nill.]
They're pretty. I'll be right back.
[She sets the box aside and gets up from her seat. Lisbeth makes her way to Anne's room to rummage around. If she even knew what Lisbeth was doing in her room, there was no doubt that Anne would've been annoyed. But she's soon back in the living room with a set of Anne's sewing needles.
Lisbeth grabs the bottle of vodka that's sitting on the counter before joining Nill again.]
You're not scared are you?
[Not that Nill is ever scared. But, hey, being restrained in any sense scared the fuck out of Lisbeth so who knows what might freak out her friend.]
[Well, if Lisbeth was going to restrain her then Nill might have an issue with it. But since she doubts Lisbeth would have much reason, the idea of this doesn't bother her a great deal.]
Should I be?
[She knew it would hurt, and Nill's never had the desire to pierce her ears before, but the earrings were too lovely. She really wanted to be able to wear them.]
